Mbukuni, a small village in Machakos County Kalama sub-county, is a semi-arid region in Kenya and only experiences rainfall for two brief seasons a year, April, and November. Their only other water supply is a small stream that is inadequate to meet the surrounding community’s needs.
With their former chief’s assistance, our team successfully identified a location ideal for constructing a solar-powered deep bore well. Centrally located, it will have the most significant impact in supplying the local community of 2000 with clean, reliable water. The residents are currently organizing to outline the steps forward and prepare a management plan.
